A Dead Man’s Work is Never Done

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

As it would appear (in the nature of having a slight work addiction) I have somehow lined up quite a collection of freelance jobs. With the PAF finally being over I find it quite reasonable to go back to my busy schedule, but working on art instead of designing other peoples ideas was quite a welcome vacation. Current projects include 3 upcoming website designs, a flyer & 2 posters. More info to come… it’s going to be a long holiday weekend.

People’s Arts Festival

Now as for that, well… on Saturday (just in case anyone missed it) I got extremely drunk as according to plan. Other than alcohol I also spent a bit of money on art as I tend to at these sorts of things… and my daily flickr views has grown quite a bit since the festivals close. Speaking of that… here are some pictures…

Oh well… time to start preparing for work. More information coming soon… and a new revised portfolio site is on the way.

…before you hear it from the other kids at school.

People’s Arts Festival

I’ve been taking apart furniture to transform it into artwork. Hopefully people will buy it… hopefully my new process will work, because I’m out of some vital colors to make my more “traditional” paintings. I’ve constructed a few ideas based on: a) things I’ve seen at other art shows b) things I’ve seen on the internet c) things I’ve seen around my living room d) things I’ve seen inside my mind… that’s pretty much it. This is day 3 or 4 of the process… here’s a couple of pictures.

The website is getting a complete makeover. I’ll let you know a few months after I’m finished…

Headaches

I’ve been making new menu’s and daily specials cards for all of the Boydell restaurants. This is quite a process… the websites have had recent overhauls as well. The Coaches Corner stuff looks a little like this…

RIC Spring Open House 2010

Well, I was up all night working up this flyer, and it just went to print today. We should get them in by Friday, so expect to see a posting of the printed version sometime next week… then rejoice when I finally post it a month from now. I started up a flickr account to use for my blog (since the upload button no longer works in the ancient version of wordpress) …anyway, you can check that out here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fukur/ …but enough about me. Here’s the flyer…

Early Alternate Versions

…it’s not about the process.

…that’s all for now. I’ve been working on remedy667.com… right now it’s just a flickr photostream, but trust me… it’s coming way sooner than the Coats & Corpses website. Just in case you are hungry for something new, check out the Dance N Graff site… that’ll be in progress for a bit, but it’s live.

Burning Down Prom Night

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

No matter how far I go… I always end up back here. Yesterday saw memories more than 19 years forgotten on a self-guided tour of what my life once was. In recent years it’s always felt like a ghost town to me, streets decayed and fields overgrown with subdivisions. My entire adult life I’ve tried to escape from it, but now I realize that right now… right at this moment… This is exactly where I need to be, and I’ve never felt more alive. This is only the beginning… Today is the first day of the rest of my life, and it’s a beautiful day.

So it’s come time again for moving, and that’s never fun… but hey, there’s an upside. YAY! I’ve never lived alone before so now I’ll have more time to scare the shit out of myself, drink too much, forget to sleep, make art, and be clumsy. Look forward to a thinner Nick P with a beer-belly who is covered in bruises and paint. Anyway, the move is almost over and I’m just sitting around the old flat drinking with the cats. Facebook is down, and I’m really bad about writing in my blog so… Hey! Talking to a brick wall, here I come. Anyway, I’m hoping to have sometime to complete a few freelance web jobs I’ve had kicking around over the last few months, as well as finish the Coats & Corpses website. Hey, maybe I’ll even have time to make a portfolio for myself. Then the real money comes in. Anyway, I’m planning on doing some more printmaking type stuff. So anyone interested in owning a little artwork… eh? Your prayers may soon be answered. Goodnight all…
