The Bird Czar…

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Today the Russell Bazaar website got a much needed make-over… and oh yes, there is more to come. Here’s a sneak preview for people too lazy check out the website itself… I call it…

Russell, the Bird Czar.”

…this is a modified version of course. Right click them both if you want, I have the vector files.

Are you Fucking Seriousing Me…?!?

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

My keyboard is fucking broken, it’s awesome… every few minutes it stops working and I have to unplug it and plug it back in. Piss me the fuck off, anyway… what’s a Nick P work on lately, you ask?

Reworking Bar Logos
from piss, to this…

Full Page Color Layouts
Another week, another ad. This ones going in a magazine called Metra, it’s for 3rd Floor Ladies Night at Eros Lounge. The Hottest New Gay Bar in Detroit…?!? Hell if I know, I’m just make words look pretty… either way, are we competing with Metrotimes here or what? Maybe not as sleazy though…

Coupons…
which I will mention, but not show. Since there was some sort of mess up with them, and they aren’t expired yet anyway. Now, since that isn’t really fair of me to talk about these wonderful coupons, and how cool or lame they look. Allow me to hook you up with a bad coupon. I think this one was made for December…

…that’s obvious though. Speaking of things that expired in December, I need to make a new header for the Russell Bazaar website. This winter wonderland might be a little hard to top with spring colors, like, I dunno…pastel?

Menus…

and Posters…
…and speaking of pastels, again… BTW, this one isn’t finished yet.

…and more recently, I’ve been picking up Blueberries at the store…
TO MAKE SOME DELICIOUS MUFFINS!!!

…or eat them at least.

Detroit – A New Beginning… Ending…

Detroit – A New Begining… Closing Reception, April 11th from 3 ’til 9… I’m sure there will be live music and such… This is the final alteration on this flyer, I’ve got 2 more events to start designing for.

Important Points from Yesterdays Email Blast

Wonderland…
Anyone planning on attending the Wonderland Show? I have no idea where to get tickets… I would assume you just buy them as you enter same way you would any event at Theatre Bizarre. Check their myspace page… http://www.myspace.com/wonderlanddetroit. These events are always fun, and I strongly urge anyone to do yourself a favor and check this out.

Detroit Art Battle…
The date changed. It was the 18th, now it’s the 17th. Pretty important if you don’t want to be a day late and a dollar short. Also, this is the second annual, and I heard something about this being in a bigger space to help better accommodate a large turn out. So remember, April 17th.

People’s Arts Festival 2009…
Hey, that wasn’t in the email… that’s right! I wanted some more confirmed information, but as of right now I’ve been hearing that it’s going down in August this year. So, make some time and room… I’ve already been told that I should be recieving some information for the website soon…

~or~

A Cynical Attempt at Being Feeble

So, we’ve been without the internet for the last few days at work… but that didn’t really stop anything from getting done. In fact, it’s been quite the week here at the Russell Industrial Center…

ARRIBA
Started off with a series of comps for the new Arriba! club opening up downtown. They really wanted this sunshine/beach umbrella feel to it, so that’s what they got… Here’s a few comps picked up along the way. Everyone wanted this font, which to me doesn’t say nightclub… but I’m just a designer, what do I know.

From right to left I present; the mustache, a seventies airline, Morton Salt, a travel agency, another travel agency, and a company that makes ranchero style cans of beans… Anyway, the final ended up looking like this…

…but I still liked the mustache.

Detroit – A New Beginning
Then sometime after or during all of that, Klever came and dropped off our posters for the show currently going on at the Russell Gallery. People should go and buy them… tell them you like the design, but the image looks a little lossy from the expansion from 4X6 to 24X36. Now, I know in advance that we are making posters of every handbill. Either way, it still came out ok. I got a free one. It’s sitting at home in a pile of other stuff that I designed. Here’s a preview…

Check out my spraygraphic page for the rest of the story… http://www.spraygraphic.com/ViewProject/9090/normal.html and don’t forget to click the link that says you liked it. Enough about me… time for work, only 7 more hours til vacation…
